About this procedure
Hair restoration is the UK's largest outbound medical-travel category. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) and Sapphire FUE are minimally-invasive techniques performed as outpatient procedures. What most patients ask.
How many grafts do I actually need?+
This depends on your Norwood classification, donor area density and desired coverage. Typical Norwood 3 restoration needs 2,800–3,500 grafts; Norwood 5–6 needs 4,500–5,500. Your introduced surgeon will assess this during your Zoom consultation after reviewing your photos.
How long is the typical trip?+
Three to five nights. Day 1 arrival and consultation, Day 2 surgery, Day 3 washing session at clinic, Day 4 or 5 departure. Premium packages add a second washing session.
When will I see final results?+
Shedding at 2–4 weeks is normal and expected. New growth visible at 3–4 months. Final density and texture at 12–14 months.
Is the procedure painful?+
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia. You'll feel the initial injections, then nothing. Most patients watch films, eat lunch, and chat with the surgical team throughout.
What about scarring?+
FUE and DHI leave no linear scar — only microscopic dots in the donor area that are invisible once hair grows to even a few millimetres.
